In health care, protecting the public begins with the ability to respond to an emergency. Whether you are a nurse or midwife regulated by the Nursing Council of Kenya or a care worker supporting clients at home, current CPR and first-aid skills are part of what the role expects. Here is what the Kenyan framework requires, and how recognized, up-to-date, documented training meets it.

Responding to an emergency — initiating CPR, controlling bleeding — is part of a nurse's professional duty of care. The NCK records CPD through its online portal, and accredited Basic Life Support (BLS) courses explicitly earn CPD points, so documented, recognized training is the practical way to meet the requirement.

Kenya operates a mandatory CPD-point system: registered nurses and midwives must earn 20 CPD points per cycle to renew the practising licence, with evidence submitted through the NCK online portal. Accredited BLS/CPR courses count directly toward these points.
